We Are The SC Department of Public Safety

The mission of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety is to protect and serve the public with the highest standard of conduct and professionalism; to save lives through educating its citizens on highway safety and diligent enforcement of laws governing traffic, motor vehicles, and commercial carriers; and to ensure a safe, secure environment for the citizens of the state of South Carolina and its visitors.

SCDPS has three law enforcement divisions: SC Highway Patrol, SC State Transport Police, and the SC Bureau of Protective Services. In addition, SCDPS is comprised of the Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs, which administers grant funding, statewide highway safety statistics and oversees public outreach for the agency and the SC Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame, which preserves the state's law enforcement history and recognizes current and fallen officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
